How to Clean a Cloth Doll Body

If your daughter has a cloth doll, she is likely to bring it with her wherever she goes. The cloth doll will become filthy at some point. This can happen if the doll is taken outside or if food or drink is spilled on it accidentally. The good news is that the fabric doll is rather simple to clean. To keep the doll appearing fresh new, you may just need to clean it once a month.

Cleaning a Cloth Doll

Look over the Cloth Doll Body to see if it has any stains. Pre-treat any stains with a Shout stain stick. Allow the Shout to permeate the doll and work on the stain for at least an hour before washing it.

Fill a dishpan halfway with hot water. It is preferable to hand-wash your doll rather than putting it in the washing machine.

Add 1 teaspoon of Woolite to the mixture. After mixing the Woolite with the water, add the cloth doll.

To work the soap inside the doll, squeeze it several times. To help remove any stubborn dirt or stains, use your fingers and a toothbrush.

Fill the dishpan with warm water after emptying it. Squeeze the doll repeatedly until all of the soap has been removed. To get all of the soap out of the Cloth Doll Body, you may need to drain and refill the water several times.

Tips

The stuffing can be removed by opening the rear of the doll. This will make it much easier to wash and dry the doll. The only drawback is that you’ll have to re-sew the doll when you’re through.

Warnings

Some types of cloth cannot be dried because the fabric will shrink. Allowing your doll to dry naturally is the best option.
